The final adoption day consisted of bringing lots of paperwork, driving to Seattle, paying a lawyer a lot of money, and standing in front of a judge to answer questions. I'm sure that I was green with nerves for 3-4 days prior (or more) but Mom, Lanny, Myan and I packed in the car and went for it. We were scheduled for 1p.m at the King County Superior Court House. I was a wreck. Believe me, I'm a little tense always anyway -- but this was more than I could handle -- or so I thought. We got in (after Lanny got jumped for brining a switch-blade pocket knife into Superior Court) and met my lawyer and waited outside the courtroom. When they opened the doors we went inside to wait. Thankfully we were the first ones called, and my session was over within 20 minutes. Apparently I answered all of the questions correctly. I can't tell you what one of them was to this day -- but obviously, I am more than capable of speaking when not thinking. I'm sure this will come in handy as a parent.
At Pike Place after the court hearing . . .
During the court hearing...can we get this over with please?
Lanny, Myan and me right after the hearing.
Myan was the first on the list after lunch, so thankfully we didn't have to wait long.
